Nintendo TVii Nintendo TVii enables you to find, watch, and engage with TV shows, movies and sports programming in entirely new ways. Using the Wii U GamePad, you can browse and search for programming from sources you subscribe to, including cable and satellite channels, video-on-demand services, and even recorded TiVo shows. Once you find something to watch, you can use the GamePad to start the program or set a DVR recording. While watching live TV, you can also use the GamePad to engage and share your experience with family or friends. This service will be available in the United States and Canada at launch for users with a broadband wireless Internet connection. Video Entertainment Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus and YouTube all take advantage of the integrated second-screen experience on Wii U. Miiverse Miiverse is a brand-new online gaming community that is built directly into the Wii U console. It lets you share experiences, discuss games and discover new content with gamers from around the world. Using your Mii character within Miiverse, you will see games, applications or entertainment content that either you have used recently, expressed interest in learning more about or that your friends are using or discussing. From here you can challenge your friends to play together, ask a question about a difficult level or discover new elements of your favorite games that you never knew existed. After a notable achievement or other share-worthy moment, you can pause your game or application and seamlessly post messages to the Miiverse community. Nintendo eShop The digital storefront for Wii U offers a wide variety of downloadable games and content to enjoy. You will also be able to purchase and download select games that are also available at retail stores. Video Chat Using the built-in camera of the Wii U GamePad controller, you can communicate in a real-time video call with friends who also have a Wii U console at home. Internet Browser Wii U comes with a browser that lets you browse the Internet from the comfort of your couch. No need to interrupt your favorite show--browse purely on the GamePad while your program continues on the TV. You can also pause a game, launch the browser to search for tips on the game you're playing, and then re-enter the game right where you left off. TV Remote The Wii U GamePad can also function as an infrared TV remote that lets you conveniently change channels, adjust volume or browse a programming guide. Near Field Communication (NFC) Imagine a physical object in the real world affecting the game world right before your eyes... Using NFC technology, the Wii U GamePad has the capability to communicate wirelessly with objects that are held above it. Backwards compatibility Nearly all of your existing Wii games can also be played on the Wii U console. In addition, your Wii Remote, Wii Remote Plus, and Nunchuk controllers at home are compatible with select Wii U software.
