With Timbuktu Pro, you can view the screen of a remote computer, or share your screen with one or many remote computers to collaborate, teach or provide technical support. Use your mouse and keyboard to operate distant computers as if you were sitting right in front of them, send large files without tying up email, and communicate by intercom, text chat or instant message.
New features in Version 8.0 Include:
–Stream Encryption and Compression Timbuktu Pro version 8 supports SSH to encrypt and compress Timbuktu Pro connections. In addition to providing secure connections, SSH compression may increase Timbuktu Pro performance. Use of this feature requires an SSH server, which is not included with Timbuktu Pro. –Enhanced Screen-Sharing Preferences In Timbuktu Pro version 8, preferences for Guest and Host can be defined separately, and both offer a number of new options, each of which may increase the performance or security of your screen-sharing sessions. –On-the-Fly Preferences The screen-sharing windows system menu has been expanded to allow you to control settings for the screen-sharing window itself, or to change the host preferences on the fly, during an active screen-sharing session. –Extended Logging Timbuktu Pro now supports two different types of centralized logging for all the Timbuktu Pro computers on your network Timbuktu Log Server, or NT Event Log Serve as well as a locally stored Event Log file. With these, you can more easily track performance, security and usage of Timbuktu Pro. –Single-Stream Connections Timbuktu Pro now uses single-stream TCP connections by default, making it even easier to configure for operation through a firewall or NAT router. –MSI Installer Timbuktu is now packaged using a fully-compliant MSI installer, giving you more options during installation.
