Manufacturer Refurbished - Savvy buyers know that manufacturer refurbished products can be a great value. These items are usually priced 10 to 15 percent lower than a comparable new product. When you buy a manufacturer refurbished product, you can be assured you're getting the quality you have come to expect from the manufacturer. When products are returned—often unopened—to a manufacturer from retailers or customers, manufacturer-trained technicians take them apart and rebuild them to original factory specifications. The technicians then retest to ensure that these products meet the same quality standards as required for brand-new manufacturer products.

Q&A
Beyond performance, Thunderbolt technology is the most flexible interface ever created. It permits daisy chaining up to six compatible peripherals and combines two existing communication protocols--one for data and the other for display--simultaneously over a single cable (sold separately from Apple.com). Each cable provides two channels with 10Gb/s bandwidth for both uplink and downlink. This means that video and data can be pushed and pulled both ways without compromising bandwidth.
Featherweight Powerhouse The Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series weighs just 1.4 lbs., making it a portable powerhouse. It fits in the palm of your hand, features its own cooling system, and can be connected to displays and laptops. Opt for the hard disk version and get up to 2TB storage capacity per unit (up to 240GB with SSD version). While presenting their work to a client, photographers can browse smoothly through photos in their digital libraries while experiencing zero lag time. Away from the studio, videographers can dramatically reduce the time to publish a project. They simply download their footage directly from a compatible camera to the Little Big Disk to start the editing process on the field. The SSD version will be popular with post-production teams thanks to its support for multiple uncompressed video streams and multichannel audio.
The New Era for Speed The LaCie Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series heralds a new era for storage performance. Featuring a preconfigured RAID0 striped set with optional hard disks or SSDs through the 10Gb/s Thunderbolt interface, it delivers astonishing transfer rates. Reach read speeds of up to 480MB/s with the SSD model, and up to 190MB/s with the hard disk model. Now you can truly get the power of fibre channel rackmount storage--in a portable solution!
As a result, Thunderbolt technology enables new and exciting ways to streamline your life at home and in the office. Simplify connections between your A/V devices and computer peripherals by daisy chaining them all together so you only need a single port on your laptop. It's even mini DisplayPort backward-compatible so you can, for example, connect your high-end LaCie 324i display and your Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series to your Mac.
Aluminum Reliability and Security The Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series is enclosed in LaCie's classic d2 casing, designed by Neil Poulton. The resilient aluminum armor protects the data inside whether the Little Big Disk is in the field or in transit. Not only is it constructed of sturdy aluminum, but its unique heat sink design provides 60% more surface area, which draws heat away from the internal components, keeping it cool and safe at all times. What's more, its front power button allows you to turn off the Little Big Disk without breaking a daisy chain, always with energy conservation in mind.
RAID for Speed or Security Use Disk Utility on your Mac OS to configure the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series into a RAID array that suits your needs. It's possible to set it up as a mirrored RAID set (RAID 1), which provides data protection if one disk fails. Alternatively, configure it as a striped RAID set (RAID 0) to maximize speed and capacity for large file storage and fast transfers.
You can even daisy chain multiple Little Big Disks together to increase overall transfer rates. The more products you chain together, the higher performance you get. Daisy chain four Little Big Disks with SSDs to maximize Thunderbolt interface capabilities and reach transfer rates of around 800MB/s (up to 782MB/s with the hard disk version).
All in all, the Little Big Disk Thunderbolt Series makes it possible to acquire, edit, and play back multiple uncompressed A/V streams directly from the drive with ultimate ease and portability, no matter the size or resolution of the content.

A good, but not great product, 2013-02-07

I was excited about the idea of going to a Thunderbolt compatible drive for my backups. It is significantly faster than my USB 2.0 drive. I was very surprised with the noise level. I expected it to be silent like my STD drive Macbook Pro. It sounds ...

Very very impressed! with Lacie 2TB Thunderbolt HD, 2012-11-06
By Paul Anderson
You should include the Thunderbolt cable with the drive. Something I’m accustomed to when purchasing a new HD. The speed is like moving from horseback to a car..... that fast. Now I know what 10gbs data flow is like, I’ll never be able to be impress...
