iRig KEYS from IK Multimedia is an ultra-slim and highly portable 37-key universal MIDI keyboard controller for use with an iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, or a Mac or Windows based computer. The keyboard features velocity-sensitive mini keys with a three octave-plus-one note range, and takes up minimal space on the desktop. Additionally, it will easily fit in a backpack or carry-on bag, and in use connects directly to the 30-pin dock of the iOS device, or the USB port of a computer. iRig KEYS is plug-and-play Core MIDI and USB class compliant with both iOS devices and Mac/PC computers. It requires no additional apps, software or drivers to be installed to be up and running. The keyboard is an ultra-low power consumption unit and draws power from the connected iOS device, and it can also be powered via the USB port. The USB port powers it when connected to a computer. The iRig KEYS can be used for live performance or for songwriting using the included app and software downloads or with any other MIDI compatible instruments and recorders. Despite its size the controller still features modulation and pitch-bending wheels, plus an input for an optional sustain or expression pedal. Further control is available via five backlit soft-touch buttons and a volume/data knob. The buttons include program and octave up/down, plus a SET button for storing up to four different custom set ups. An edit mode allows for transposing the keyboard, sending specific program change messages, customizing touch sensitivity, changing MIDI channel, and reassigning the volume/data knob MIDI control changes, along with access to other MIDI functions.
