"List price" is the suggested retail price provided to us by our vendors. We make no representation that a substantial number of these products have been sold or offered for sale at the list price. Actual retail prices in your area may be substantially different. Since we sell products on a national basis, it is not possible to know if our merchandise is sold at list price in any particular location or at any particular time. "You Save" reflects the difference between our price and the vendor provided list price shown on our sites. Since the list price may be different than the actual retail prices in your area, you may not actually realize a savings of this amount.

Manufacturers sometimes ask that retailers not display a price if it drops below a certain amount. The "Click here to see Lowest Price" message indicates that the price of the item is so low that the manufacturer requested that it not be advertised (that is, displayed). In a brick-and-mortar store, you would probably have to ask a salesperson what the price of the product is. At eCOST, by clicking on "Click here to see Lowest Price" you are essentially asking to see the price, at which point we show it to you.

Sid Meier's Pirates!
  • Battle, overtake and command 27 different ship types, enhanced with assorted ammo, cannon and other upgrades

  • Take on various foes including merchant and military captains, ferocious pirates, evil gentry and even rival suitors; each with different skills and abilities.

  • Engage in fierce naval battles fighting single enemies or multiple ships

  • Sneak into towns, escape out of prisons, navigate around adversaries and surprise unsuspecting vessels

  • Dispatch landing parties of buccaneers in strategic battles to take over entire cities
Discover what it takes to become one of the most famous pirates in history! Based on Sid Meier's original masterpiece, Pirates! invites you to live the life of a 17th-century Buccaneer in this epic, open-ended seafaring adventure.

Test your skills as a privateer flying the Jolly Roger across the Caribbean. Duel enemy captains, exchange plank-shattering broadsides and seize valuable booty, woo fair maidens, dig up buried treasure, and of course plunder French ports (don't expect too much resistance).

As your reputation and skills grow, so will the size and quality of your crew, and your ability to take on larger enemy ships, raid heavily fortified ports, and locate ancient treasure. There's a whole cast of interesting and dangerous characters to meet, mysteries to solve, and exotic island destinations to discover.

It's a game of high adventure, where brave and skilled players battle for treasure and glory. Those who succeed achieve great fame and wealth - and those who fail... rest forever in Davy Jones' locker.
Pirates mixes several different game types together to create an experience unlike anything else on the Mac. Use the arrows below to see some of the treasures Pirates! has to offer!
The 17th century was a violent age. Highwaymen, armed militia, and roving bands of hungry ex-soldiers infested "Civilized" Europe. Most men carried swords and had at least rudimentary training in how to use them.
As a pirate, you can expect to engage in a lot of swordplay. In ship combat your objective is usually to capture ships without damaging or sinking them. Thus you board them and try to take them by storm, meeting the enemy captain in one-on-one combat!s Pirates! has to offer!
From time to time you may find it necessary to get in or out of a town unnoticed. Perhaps you've been making war on the Spanish and have discovered that your archenemy is hiding in a tavern in Cartagena. Lacking the manpower to take the city by storm, your only alternative is to sneak into the city, find the tavern and confront your foe.

As you move about the enemy city, you'll see a number of guards on routine patrol. If you sneak up behind a guard you can knock him out. However, you're much better off keeping out of his way altogether. If a guard sees you he'll raise the alarm and dozens of guards converge on your position. Then it's back to the hoosegow for you, unless you outrun them!

In the 17th century, balls (hifalutin' dance parties) were the primary form of entertainment for the upper class.

Young gentlemen and ladies were expected to be competent dancers - especially if they were looking for a mate. One could not attain the highest rungs on the social ladder if one did not cut a fine figure on the dance floor.

No matter how dashing, no matter how handsome - if a pirate wishes to win the heart of a governor's daughter, he'd better learn to dance.
The game mechanics of ship battles are quite simple: you steer your ship, you raise or lower your sails, and you fire off broadsides.
The challenge lies in learning how to use these simple tools to their best advantage in the ever-changing sea.
As captain of a pirate vessel, not only are you expected to lead your men to victory at sea, you must also be able to take them ashore to attack enemy cities.
Here you may face enemy militia, infantry, cavalry, native warriors, and guards. Your men are not especially adept at shouldering muskets, saluting, and marching in line -- but they still fight like demons when facing the enemy.
