Questions and Answers

"List price" is the suggested retail price provided to us by our vendors. We make no representation that a substantial number of these products have been sold or offered for sale at the list price. Actual retail prices in your area may be substantially different. Since we sell products on a national basis, it is not possible to know if our merchandise is sold at list price in any particular location or at any particular time. "You Save" reflects the difference between our price and the vendor provided list price shown on our sites. Since the list price may be different than the actual retail prices in your area, you may not actually realize a savings of this amount.

Manufacturers sometimes ask that retailers not display a price if it drops below a certain amount. The "Click here to see Lowest Price" message indicates that the price of the item is so low that the manufacturer requested that it not be advertised (that is, displayed). In a brick-and-mortar store, you would probably have to ask a salesperson what the price of the product is. At eCOST, by clicking on "Click here to see Lowest Price" you are essentially asking to see the price, at which point we show it to you.

Crucial m4 Solid State Drive

Award-winning quality. Award-winning performance.
The award-winning Crucial m4 SSD delivers powerful performance gains for SATA 6Gb/s systems. Designed to empower your system, the Crucial m4 SSD offers faster application load times, faster boot times, and increased durability compared to a traditional hard drive. The results speak for themselves: blazing-fast sequential read speeds of up to 500 MB/s – for any file type. Cutting-edge technology. Quality component testing. Built with advanced controller technology, Micron proprietary firmware and high-speed synchronous MLC NAND, the Crucial m4 SSD is engineered to deliver consistent, blazing-fast SSD performance. From the extensive research and development that led to its ultimate design, to the hours of testing and validation spent on each NAND component, to rigorous compatibility testing in the Crucial Performance Labs to ensure component functionality, the Crucial m4 SSD is built to last.

Consistently fast speeds. No exceptions and no fine print.
There’s a reason the Crucial m4 SSD has garnered numerous international awards since its launch - it does what it’s supposed to do. No matter what kind of files you’re working with on a Crucial SSD, you’ll experience high speeds with no drop in performance.

Unlike other SSDs on the market, Crucial SSDs treat all files the same, regardless of whether they’re compressed or uncompressed. This is important because the files most people use everyday – videos, mp3s, advanced graphics files and zip files - are compressed files and thus unable to be compressed any further. While many SSDs on the market achieve faster speeds by using file compression, many of the most common file types can’t be compressed, resulting in SSDs that often deliver drastically slower speeds than originally advertised. With the advanced technology of a Crucial SSD, however, you’ll never have this problem!

Crucial - quality you can depend on.
Crucial is a trusted name when it comes to SSDs, and that’s no coincidence. As a brand of Micron, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of SSDs, we work with our engineers to design, refine, and support our drives. With over 15 years of experience in the memory industry, NAND component testing, and the ongoing development of advanced technology, we continue to innovate without sacrificing what has made us great: high-quality upgrades and outstanding customer service.

Crucial SSDs. Performance you can trust.
Why an SSD? SSDs provide many benefits over traditional hard drives. You'll enjoy increased boot-up speeds and application load times. Because they have no moving parts, SSDs are quiet, have reduced power consumption and less heat generation. They are more lightweight, rugged and reliable - even in the most demanding operating environments or temperature extremes.

This thing was awesome! I am using a MacBook Black, late 2008 with the 2.4 processor. I had a 250GB HHD and it was getting close to full. Also after 4 years I had to replace the battery. Not sure if it was the heat or if it was the flight I had just...

I was wondering if this drive will work with an older Mac Book Pro A1226 aka MacBookPro 3,1 or a Interl Core 2 Duo 2.2Ghz. I know my MAC only supports a 1.5 Gb SATA interface but I believe it should be backward compatible. The reason I want this drive is that it has a lot of capacity and would future proof my purchase being able to put it in a future laptop.

Best Answer

Per Crucial, it appears to be the case even though I have a SATA 1.5. This is where I found the answer: http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=341ECE41A5CA7304 However, I would still love to hear from people what their experience is putting this drive in a older Macbook Pro..
