This little unit runs Windows CE 7 which means it was mainly meant for smart phones and small specialty devices. But this version is much better than previous versions. It can play all the video formats that I tried (mpg, mp4, Avi, wma). It has Internet Explorer 7 so if you are trying to go to newer websites it may have problems but if your favorite site has a mobile version (m.msn.com instead of just www.msn.com) it works just fine. It has a great YouTube app that plays and searches that site. What I really like is loading up videos on a 32mb sd card and handing it to the kids to watch movies. It has no moving parts (no hard drive to crash cause the kid dropped it), its very light so when they do drop it it survives. The battery only lasts about 2.5 hours when watching movies but that has been enough for us.
