  Solid and Fast Portable Backup,  2013-02-15

Picked this up for TimeMachine backups -- worked great out of the box. It's my first native Firewire 800 drive, so it obviously impresses compared to older FW-400 units I've used through the years. If you do a bunch of video work, this might not be the optimum for you as a main work drive, but if you have a need for carrying large files on the go this seems to be a great, solidly built performer for anything else. It's a little bigger and weighty for a shirt pocket, but still a fantastic portable solution for 2 TB storage. Western Digital offers an optimized driver for OS X on their support website -- I used this with no problem.
