 Everything I hoped for!, 2012-09-12

I had great expectations for this unit, and I'm not at all disappointed. It sounds great and is very flexible, allowing for virtually any combination of home theater gear to be interfaced together seamlessly. I have not yet upgraded my speakers, but they sound far better than they did before getting this unit, due in no small part to the Audyssey Auto Setup. After a short learning period, the interface begins to make sense, and offers numerous customization options.
The only thing I can say I wished were different, is the "standby" HDMI passthrough feature. I use an HDMI splitter, after this amp, to feed multiple HD TV's, and this unit will not pass HDMI audio when it's turned on, so watching more than one TV at a time (like Football Sundays) requires using the second audio zone to provide audio in the second location. Third location, no audio. :( It WILL pass HDMI video AND audio when the unit is on standby, but you must choose which HDMI input is passed through to the output in the settings menu. It won't simply pass any/all of the inputs, so I have it set up to pass through the audio from my DirecTV HD DVR. At least I can watch HDTV in more than one room now.
Overall, I am thrilled with this purchase! MacMall is definitely the place for this kind of purchase. Quality gear at a great price. And it arrived in just a couple of days!!
I've been waiting a long time to purchase one of these, and I am extremely satisfied!
