  Not Addlogix - really RaLink,  2011-10-16

I purchased this item to replace the functionality of a bad airport card on my Boot-Camped MacBook Pro. Unfortunately the driver disk is a Mini-CD. Mini-CDs don't work in slot loading drives. I was pleased to see it was identified correctly and usable without driver downloads on the windows side. The product came with a note with a web page to download drivers for OS X. However IE would not display any pages on the site correctly. Switched to the Mac side, went to the page on the mac side, no longer available. the company had redone their site and the link was broken. Went to the home page, found and downloaded the drivers. The drivers loaded without error but the "Wireless Utility" crashed every time I tried to connect. I found the drivers on a different site with the same results. I switched my search from "AddLogix" to "RaLink" found a different driver package. However after providing the required information and clicking the "accept" button nothing seemed to happen. Uninstalled drivers for the um-teenth time planning on one more reinstall before I hit the help forms on both sites. [YES, I had already read the FAQs and searched if anybody else had run into this problem and found nothing relevant.] I noticed the drivers from the Ralink site had in-fact downloaded. Install them, rebooted, set up a new profile in the wireless utility, and everything now works smoothly. If you expect this to be plug and play on the Mac side look elsewhere, on the Windows side it's a good buy. JayEE
