This external hard drive was purchased primarily to archive and back-up my iMac's internal drive plus another external drive, but I have started using it to hold a rather large iTunes library as well.
I have found it to be a well-built, solid unit. Stays cool during operation, even after a four-hour session, it was barely warmer than when off. And just as described, it is nearly silent while running. The metal housing gives the unit a solid feel - no hint of flimsiness at all. I'm using the firewire interface, but it's nice to have the other options. Small enough and sturdy enough to be easily carried from one computer to another if needed. A great drive at a good price!
