Cruz T301 has a major limitation, 2013-01-17
I picked up the Velocity Cruz T301 because i couldn't resist the price and it's performance is outstanding for that price. In fact, it's performance would be pretty good for the original list price.
I was able to download apps from Amazon and get most of the tablet functioning with Office Suite, calendar, email, and basic utilities, but some specialized apps that should run on the 2.3 OS in the T301 are only available from Google Play, not even from the source company.
Velocity has said that this is a legacy device and they don't intend to fix the problem and Google is apparently not interested either; they send you to the manufacturer.
The good news is that you get BlueTooth, Wi-Fi, SD card slot and a responsive touch screen. The bad news is that you will not be able to run many apps with it.
So the bottom line is that this is a great little tablet if you can do what you want with it using built-in and Amazon apps, but don't expect it to do all the things that Android tablets are advertised to do. There is a reason that some devices are offered for low prices and it is not always just because they are refurbished. (By the way, i didn't have any complaints about the refurbish job.)
