  Refurb computers,  2012-02-02

Am a programmer who all of a sudden needed an obsolete operating system in order to make some changes to a program written under Windows XP. Customer was adamant that he wanted no upgrades to Windows 7, so got this computer for a really good price. It worked out of the box and has so far worked just fine. Only thing I might change was the operating system installed was clean, i.e. no updates had been applied. It took the better part of a day to download and install some 150 updates from Microsoft, Adobe, graphics card, etc. Seems to be the refurbisher could have done this before shipping it. It would have been worth it to me to pay an extra fee for this service had it been available. But, after all updates were installed, the computer works fine and serves the purpose for which it was purchased. Would deal with this supplier again.
