With a history stretching to seven years and 13 Emmy Award nominations, SCTV was a huge success straight from its inception as a television show in 1977. By 1981 it was in syndication on NBC and winning plaudits from peers and fans alike. The incredible cast included comedy favorites such as John Candy, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, and Rick Moranis among many others. The sketch-based format offered some biting contemporary satire, and has frequently been compared to Saturday Night Live. This release offers nine 90-minute episodes from the first NBC season, including "Moral Majority," "Pledge Week," and "Bouncin' Back to You," with appearances by characters Johnny LaRue, Yellowbelly, Edith Prickley, Bob and Doug McKenzie, and Lola Heatherton.. Region 1 NTSC DVD.
