The DHT487XP, with Dolby Digital, DTS and Dolby Pro Logic II, and a robust 75 Watts per channel, is a versatile A/V receiver package that includes 5 satellite speakers and a 100-watt active subwoofer. Since speakers must be carefully selected to bring out the full sound quality of the recording, DENON has made the job easier by selecting the speakers for you. The 100-watt subwoofer features an 8" woofer to drive home the low frequency sounds. Handling the dialogue channel is a 2-way, 3-speaker front speaker. 4 2-way, 2-speaker satellite speakers will take care of the surround duties in your home theater system. With Dolby Pro Logic IIx, the AVR487 recreates existing Dolby Surround programs and conventional stereo sources such as CD in realistic 5.1-channel likeness. Receiver of Respect

Its chassis is designed to absorb vibration, supporting its large transformer inside a highly rigid frame to secure it more solidly. In addition, a cushioning material is used around the core of the transformer to minimize interference on the signal and allow more faithful reproduction of the original sound. A Twin Drive Rectifier design brings out the maximum potential of this large transformer. Since the rectifiers recharge the large block capacitors at low impedance, they are able to supply ample current to accurately reproduce deep bass as well as sudden bursts of sound. A large heatsink made of extruded aluminum is placed in a design that ensures mostly uniform temperatures so that the output transistors for all channels can be driven under the same conditions. This ensures that all channels respond with equal performance to the demands of the audio signals. The aluminum face plate, in addition to looking great, also helps with the reduction of unwanted noise. As you can see, the design of a Denon receiver makes it the perfect home for its high quality amps and converters.

The Power of Authority
For optimum Dolby Digital and DTS reproduction, the AVR487 features high quality, wideband audio amplification, providing 75 watts of power output (8 ohms, 20Hz-20kHz, 0.08 Percent THD) for each of the six main channel speakers. A large capacity power supply includes a high current power transformer along with discrete power output devices on all six amplifier channels for the highest dynamic range and superb reproduction clarity. The power amp circuits of the AVR487 have been meticulously designed to reproduce exceptionally high sound quality with a wide frequency response.

This 5 Channel Stereo mode was originally developed by Denon to enhance music lovers' enjoyment of home theater ambience, but it now can be enjoyed with any source material.

The AVR487 is equipped with 3 sets of assignable component video inputs and 1 set of monitor outputs (all RCA terminals). 3 sets of component inputs means you can get the best possible signals from 3 different sources like DVD, high definition television broadcasts, and a Tivo unit, without having to change any wiring around.
